WHAT IS HYALURONIC ACID?
Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring substance produced in our body and found in the skin, joints and connective tissue. Hyaluronic Acid binds moisture in the skin and aids collagen production. With age, Hyaluronic Acid production slows which can result in the skin looking dull and dehydrated with fine lines and wrinkles forming.
In Medical Aesthetics, Hyaluronic acid is best known as a ‘Dermal Filler’ and is usually used to give volume to lips, smooth deep facial lines or to contour other areas of the face. Due to the development process of Hyaluronic Acid which thermally bonds, rather than chemically, the PROFHILO treatment acts as a high performance hydrator and not a ‘filler’. Its gel like consistency distributes smoothly and evenly without the formation of any lumps - a potential risk with traditional Dermal Fillers. This means it can be used on areas which are difficult to treat with traditional fillers, such as the neck and upper arms. PROFHILO's structure also allows it to flow over an extended area to boost hydration and smooth or ‘remodel’ the skin.
PROFHILO is often favoured by many patients due to it’s gradual, natural results and incredible effect on hydrating, tightening and brightening the skin. WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING MY PROFHILO TREATMENT?
Often called a 'lunchtime facial treatment', PROFHILO is a quick treatment - taking about 10 minutes with no downtime. It is injected just under the skin, using a very fine needle, in ten specific areas; five injection points on each side of the face to deliver optimum results. Some patients describe a bee sting like sensation as the Hyualuronic Acid is injected into the skin. This treatment usually does not require a topical numbing cream prior to treatment.
At our Doctor Led Clinic, we only offer the full PROFHILO treatment protocol which consists of two sessions, one month apart, this is to ensure maximum results are achieved. If signs of ageing are significant, an additional treatment may be recommended four to eight weeks later. We recommend maintenance treatments every 3 months to maintain and enhance the skin rejuvenative effect.
WHERE IS PROFHILO INJECTED?
PROFHILO treatment consists of 10 injections in total, five on each side of the face. By concentrating a defined volume of PROFHILO in the most receptive points, Hyaluronic Acid can diffuse through the skin to stimulate maximum collagen production, creating a natural, balanced refreshed result.
